Familair with the working with 16mm cameras ? ? ?.

When I shot on a 16mm camera I was given a manual. It was to measure from the camera to the object in the scene. Everything behind it was to be out of focus etc..etc..etc..

My question is, does every 16mm camera use this process and what is the book that was used called? Also, does anyone think there is place online where i can get a copy of it?

Question 2, If im needing to shot something on a 16mm camera and i need something for a Extreme close up, willl i need to get a particualr lens OR can i use to telephoto lens on the camera. I beleive they are the same thing but im not sure.

Is the manual you refer to : The American Cinematographers Manual (ASC Press) which gives depth-of-field charts amongst tons of other information.

To achieve extreme close-up, you need macro prime lenses. Arri do a range of macros which include a 50mm T3 with a close focus of 8 inches, a 100mm T3 w/c.f: 14" and a 200mm T4.3 w/c.f: 23".

Yes you do have to measure for focus on every camera... The good thing is that once you get use to the camera, and good at judging distance, you should be able to measure for focus by just using your eye.
Oh... and when measuring PLEASE make sure you do it from the film plane to the subject.
